Golden Oldies // BLACK AND WHITE WEEK!

Journal Entry: Mon Jan 14, 2008, 5:21 PM

BLACK AND WHITE WEEK

Following on from the success of our previous Black and White Week back in July 07, we have decided to kick-start the re-birth of the club with another!!

So grab your filters, change your camera settings and hit desaturate in Photoshop - from this Saturday the 12th of January until next Saturday the 19th, we will only be submitting Black and White deviations!

As usual, we will submit four deviations each day, so we don't spam your inbox with too many posts! Please do not submit any deviations that are not Black and White this week, as they will be removed.

Here's some highlights from the last Black and White Week to inspire you. We look forward to seeing your deviations!

GOLDEN OLDIES

We want to try and do regular journal features again! So what better way to start then looking back at some of the previous submissions from the Indie Photography Club?

Here is a selection that some of our newer members may not have found lurking in the dark depths of our gallery!

UPDATES

Black and White Week is going great! We hope you are enjoying the submissions, keep em coming!

Also we have a very exciting and ambitious project coming next week :)

What has happened to photography? It's become more technical than artistic. People have taken every bit of emotion, every bit of beauty, of fun, of everything that makes photography an art and replaced it with rules, headache, stress and an utter lack of what I thought the whole purpose of it really was. What happened to people liking art simply because it's beautiful, because it's relatable, because it can make you laugh, because it can make you cry, because you just like looking at it?? I don't know. I really just don't know. I have searched deviantART for artists who are sick of boring, emotionless portraits and cliché run of the mill, unimaginative landscapes and still lives. Who ever said that holgas and polariods aren't legitimate photographic mediums? I refuse to believe that and so do these artists. They see photography as a way to express themselves. A way to show the beauty, the pain and the happiness of their lives. And here are some accomplishments of the indie photography scene.

HOW TO JOIN

The Indie Photography Club is about an idea behind photography - anyone who feels like they suit this club is welcome to join! It takes only one simple step - add us to your friend/watch list!

REQUESTING A SUBMISSION

Only members are allowed to upload deviations. Send us a note with the subject "DEVIATION", and the following information:

* a thumbnail of your art work
* the title
* the category

Please send only one submission request in a note, and limit your note sending to one per week! We receive ALOT of requests, and submit only four deviations a day - please be patient if your work has not been posted, and try again the following week! Submissions are chosen by our admins.
